   Poor Spencer - his owner is unable to reclaim him, so after 5 days he will be trouble! He is a sweet, shy boy, only 21 pounds, and mostly grown. He needs some socialization but is very eager to please and loves to be petted, once he learns you won't hurt him. He has soft fur, and will be a beautiful dog, with some TLC!

Cinderella is a pretty shy but sweet girl. She may or may not have had the fairytale life, but someone can change her fairytale for the better. She didn't fuss when I put her leash on nor did she fuss when I took her picture. Cinderella has a sweet, quiet personality and she seems very laid back in nature. Update: Cinderella truly is a princess! She may not realize it yet, and neither may you since she's stuck here at Animal Control, but take her home, and you'll find out for sure! This little girl is so sweet, and very calm. She just waits patiently at her kennel door for someone to come and visit her, never jumping up or acting pushy. She walks well on the leash and is a great compact size, at only 37 pounds. With a good brushing session, she will shed out her winter coat and be sleek and beautiful.    Georgette is a sweet little girl! She is currently in a kennel with Spencer, and is a little bit shy, but once she warms up, she is the cuddliest puppy ever! Georgette was found as a stray, and stayed with a family for a couple of weeks, but they couldn't keep her. Now she is labeled as an owner surrender here at Animal Control, which means time is very limited and AC is very full! This little girl is only 18 pounds, and has the softest fur ever - she would love to go home with you right away!

   Nellie and Chester are the sweetest, healthiest pups! These guys are owner surrenders, which makes them very desperate at Animal Control right now! They are in perfect health, and behave like angels. They were surrendered because of a child's allergies, but they love kids and are great with cats and other dogs too. They are housetrained and great friends, but would rather be adopted separately than not make it out of here at all!

   Angel is a terrible sight to look at. But she doesn't know it - she is one of the happiest dogs at Animal Control right now, even though it's hard to believe. Angel is severely emaciated - she is only 30 pounds, and should probably weigh twice that. The other obvious thing from Angel's pictures are the severe skin wounds all over her back - it appears that some horrible person poured chemicals on her and caused a nasty chemical burn. Angel is only available to rescue groups because of her condition - however, she just needs some vet care and good quality nutrition, and she'll be good as new! Her personality will be her saving grace - Angel is true to her name, and is super sweet and loves people and attention. The forgiveness that dogs have for humans is amazing. Please give this dog a chance.

Update: This baby needs to be rescued asap and does not have to wait here the usual 5 days. Bless her heart. She's finally getting the food and water she needs here at Animal Control, and the athenspets.net google ads fund money is going to hopefully get her some vet attention, but none of that will do her any good unless someone comes to her rescue asap!!

   Skeeter is just a tiny baby, only 4 pounds! He currently spends his time inside the lobby of Animal Control in a tiny pen, and snoozes much of the time. But he does love to cuddle and won't protest if you stop by for a kiss. Skeeter is super cute, and just needs a new home to grow up in!

   Tucker is an adorable little fellow, and seems lost from home. He managed to get his white fur all dirty during his travels, but now he is here, safely awaiting his owner's return. This little guy is 14 pounds full grown, and he seems to be housetrained, as his kennel was very clean and he pottied right away when we took him out for a walk. Come meet this gentleman soon!

   For some reason, Cooper has been at Animal Control for a long time - and it shows! He's got bundles of energy and loves to play! He couldn't sit still for a minute when we took him out of his kennel - he loves to roll on his back for belly rubs, play tug of war with the leash, or attack you with kisses and cuddles. Cooper is a hilarious fellow, and will grow to be a medium sized dog (already 16 pounds). Come meet Cooper soon!

   Callie is such a sweetheart of a pup - calm and loving. She has long legs and when we went to open her kennel, she managed to balance herself on the block wall above the kennel floor, so eager to come out to play. She needs a little bit of help learning what a leash means, but Callie is happy to follow you anywhere, and gladly jumps in your lap for a cuddle if you let her. Callie is a sweet baby girl, only 15 pounds, and seems to be very healthy - but no applications yet!

   Suzette is a sweet lady, but obviously missing her pups. She is still lactating, and also in heat - despite her hormones, she is a very sweet girl! She deserves better care than she has been receiving, and if not reclaimed, she would love to become someone's new pet!

   Polly is such a sweet little lady! She is on the back side of the kennels and easy to miss since she sits so quietly in her run. She waited politely without a fuss for her turn to model before the camera. Even though she seemed to have no formal training, she behaved politely on the leash and didn't pull at all. She has a mellow and submissive personality, which makes her easy to train and even easier to love. At only 37 pounds, she would fit wonderfully in almost any loving home!    Dell is slightly intimidating upon first glance.  He’s a big, stocky boy!  But Dell is such a good dog!  He does really well on the leash, and he always minds his manners.  Dell never jumped or barked or even growled!  He was perfectly content just getting scratched behind the ears.  This gentleman would make the perfect companion so don’t let first impressions frighten you off!  He’s really just a big teddy bear!

Want to come meet the biggest heartbreaker at Animal Control? The one you just want to pick up and whisk away? Come say hi to Mikey. He’ll be a little scared and shy at first. Someone has not been good to him and he might flinch when you go to pet him – but go ahead and give him a good scratch or a belly rub and he will MELT. It will take a few minutes, but it is incredibly rewarding to see him realize, “Oh, wait…these people are being nice to me! I like this! I really do! Okay, keep doing that.” He will be a snuggler, there’s no doubt about it – it might take just a little bit of time. Oreo just broke my heart today. This poor boy was very shy when I met him. He allowed me to put his leash on with no protest, and he followed me outside. Oreo peed when I took him out for a walk, which is always a good sign in terms of housebreaking. Poor Oreo is a neglect case, and he had been tethered outside which is no way for a sweet dog to live his life. Oreo needs an angel who will give him a loving home. Pepper is a sweet, happy dog. She graciously allowed me to put her leash on, and she peed immediately when I took her out for a walk (this is usually a good sign in terms of housebreaking). he reason the pups (26137-26140) are listed as rescue only is just because they are so young (only 4 weeks old or so) - they are perfectly healthy, but they just need to go to a rescue until they are ready to be placed. They are here with their mom, also an owner surrender, "Trixie" (#26136), a 4 year old black female Chow. She is feeling very protective of them, and won't come out of her kennel to visit with anyone. They are currently in pen #16, in Rabies Quarantine.

   Theo and Leo are the cutest of brothers.  Theo (#26094) is the black one.  He’s slightly bigger than Leo and uses that as an advantage when they wrestle!  These boys were tuckered out when it was their turn for photos—they looked so cute snuggled up together that I hated to disturb them!  Theo and Leo are a little shy, but they’re also very sweet.  I think the big, barking dogs nearby scare them a little!  This adorable twosome doesn’t have to be adopted together—they’ll be happy just to find a forever home!

   Neil is a sad case at Animal Control.  He has some dry skin on his face and several puncture wounds over his body.  However, it is all stuff that heals with a little medical attention and TLC.  Please don’t let Neil’s rough past deter you from falling in love!  He is actually a sweet, docile animal.  Neil’s tail never stops wagging and he loves to place his head in your lap so you scratch behind his ears.  The shelter is so full and Neil’s time is limited—please hurry!!
