Major is a strong, athletic boy who is extremely outgoing, but he is a little freaked out about being here.  Unlike most dogs, who show their fear by hiding or being shy, Major shows his confusion by……humping.  With great determination    Once he feels comfortable he’ll probably slow down on the humping routine, and getting neutered will help a lot too.  His owners say that he’s housebroken, friendly and has lived with a small dog.  He’s also a talented fence jumper, so a 6 foot fence is a must.

Pablo is a cool looking dog. I loved is soft bushy coat. Pablo needs lots of brushing to get rid of all that extra hair. He didn’t seem interested in meet me or my friend. Pablo rather sniff around the pound to figure out where he is. He didn’t mind getting a back rub and some hugs. Pablo didn’t show any signs of aggression towards dogs or other people. Dewey is a very sweet dog. He responds well to people and other dogs around him. Dewey walks very well on the leash and rather spend time with his people than sniffing around. He is well socialized and didn’t so any signs of aggression when walking by all the barking dogs. Dewey is bunking up with 30997 Yoshi right now since the pound is so full. They seem to be getting along just fine. Dewey would be a perfect companion for anyone looking for a calmer dog that can be easily trained.

Brody is a repeat visitor to the pound. Even though he is a very handsome dog, Brody has a good number of sores and irritations on his back and legs. His coat is in fair condition, and he would love for a vet to help him feel more comfortable. Brody is a big boy, well into the 60-pound range, but with the leash high under his chin he walks fairly well for his size and unneutered status. He is comfortable in the surroundings of the pound, and greets every person with a happy tail-wag. Brody really deserves a second chance at a loving home, so please come visit with him soon!

Hildie is one adorable puppy! My goodness! She has the overly- expressive triangle ears, stubby legs, and huge personality of a Corgi. Hildie is very sweet and good-natured. The typical puppy, Hildie loves to be carried and to carry around toys. She’s a wonderful age to bring into any home and to shape into the perfect little companion. Hildie has already been  at the pound for a few days, so don’t delay in meeting her!!

Bijou is a sweet little Bichon boy. He has the softest coat and docile personality of a little lamb. At first he was cautious and wary of my movements, but if you take it slowly with him, he will easily warm up and seek your affection. Truffles is one goofy little girl! She looks like either a bulldog or pug-like mix (she has the markings of a bulldog-type, so that guess sounds very likely!). She is very good-natured and quiet- while she enjoyed sniffing the interaction pen, she didn’t try to jump up or act rude in any way. Truffles has a face that just begs to be kissed and shmooshed- look at that underbite! She is full-grown and only 25lbs so should fit into any household, so long as she’s able to stretch her legs and have some form of diversion to keep her brain happy, too!

Oswald is a goofball of a dog. He is an athletically-built retriever mix- a lean (not-at-all) mean lovin’ machine! Outgoing and gregarious, Oswald enjoys people and receiving affection. He did try to jump up, but wouldn’t put his paws on me (it was more of a vertical expression of his enthusiasm for being let out of the tiny run). Oswald has a coat that is a mixture of long and short, perfect if you like the feel of a long-coated dog, but with a smaller shedding volume! Oswald would be perfect for an active person or family. If you’d like to take your new pet out for jogs, long walks, or trips to the park or lake, Oswald is your guy!!

Lucia is an itty-bitty, petite-bull. J She is pocket-sized and very travel-friendly! The name ‘Lucia’ means light and she is a star of a girl. Lucia didn’t try to jump once, nor was she pushy or mouthy. She was a little shy at first but very friendly. She’s experiencing some hair loss on her back legs that could either be an allergy or other skin condition. With some vet attention and good nutrition, Lucia’s coat will be back to shining in no time!! This little girl has had puppies in the past, but would really love to become someone’s pet and to leave motherhood behind her. As a fairly nondescript (in outer appearances only!) pit mix at a very full pound, Lucia’s paws are crossed that someone will come forward in time for her! If you have room (and she doesn’t take up much!) in your home and heart for a doll of a dog, look no further than Lucia!

Blanca is a wiggly, affectionate dog who showed just the right blend of joy and calm.  Her photographers didn’t get jumped on, but they did get nice little kisses.  And is she pretty?  Oh yeah!  A platinum blonde with light blue eyes and a speckly pink and black nose.  She’s a bit dusty now, but she’ll really sparkle with a bath.  A very pleasant girl!

Sally came in with her sister Gracie and brother Tank.  She is the smallest of the three, and seems to be the gentlest, although she has no trouble keeping up with the antics of her siblings.  She is also very sweetly submissive to her photographers – not shy or frightened,  just ready and willing to please.  She enjoyed being held, and gave nice little kisses.  The three of them were a funny trio, especially when they grabbed each others leashes and tried walking each other

One look at Hercules and you can guess why this is his ‘pound’ name!  He’s a strong young guy who isn’t all that familiar with leash walking, so he has a tendency to pull like a mule team    Most of the leashes here at the pound are small and thin, so Herc is definitely a two-leash guy here!  All this is not to say that he isn’t a  perfectly pleasant fellow though.  He posed nicely for his photoshoot, although his first interest was to explore every inch of the interaction pen – including trying to shove his head through a gap in the chain link door.  This explains why he had a couple of small, fresh cuts on the top of his head -  he’s a head-first explorer    Aside from that, Hercules is a beautiful boy, in great shape.

Honeypie alert!!  This young girl is an absolute delight.  Although she just arrived the day we took her  picture, she was calm, affectionate and didn’t seemed the least bit fazed over being in jail.  She trotted out happily for her photoshoot and posed very sweetly.  Dana is bigger than a Doxie but far smaller than a Basset.  As you can see she’s quite portable and will be a great fit for just about any family!

Piper is another adorable puppy at the shelter, and looks the most like an American Bulldog of the three. He is a spunky, fun puppy that was so eager to play with the other puppies passing by him. Marcell is one adorable Chi mix. He is a little bigger than his friend Claire. Marcell is terrified at the pound. He doesn’t like walking on a leash near all the loud barking, and will lay down on the ground. He hovers to any person near by for love and to hide. My heart really went out for Marcell…he would be such a great dog if only given a second chance. I bet he is a lovebug, but too scared to be his playful self. Right now he is very submissive towards any weird noise or sudden movements. Come love on Marcell soon!

Claire is a really sweet little Chihuahua. Genie is one adorable little pup. She was very friendly and loved to wiggle. She hates the leash right now and will do the typical leash dance of “get me off this thing”. Genie is at the perfect age to experience tons of new skills to make her in the a great dog. She loves treats and would gladly take a cookie from my hand. She was extremely easy to tire out. We just ran around and let her roll around for a few minutes and she was already falling asleep standing up once we stopped playing. Yoshi is one of my favorites at the pound. He was so scruffy and cute. He could sit nicely on command, which means he probably know a few more tricks. But, you need to watch little Yoshi because he knows how to unlatch the kennel gate and has escaped several time. He is so stinkin’ smart…little guy just wants to play. If you’re interested in adopting Yoshi  you cannot leave him in your backyard for hours at a time. He needs supervision just like any other dog.  Yoshi walks very well on the leash and will benefit from an owner that can give him daily walks around the park. This will help eliminate the need for him to run off and get lost.

Dasha is such a sweet girl! She gets only great with everyone: people, kids, cats, and other dogs, especially smaller dogs. She’s very submissive around larger dogs and just seems to avoid them. She is not the least bit aggressive. Dasha is a bit nervous here at the pound, which is common in shepherds. She’s also at a great age. She’s past the hyper puppy stage but still has a lot of years to spend with you. She is extremely gorgeous and needs a great home where she can relax and enjoy life! Come visit her soon!

Donald (31002) and Daisy (31003) are two unbelievable dogs here at the pound. They share a run and are both extremely calm and submissive. They both walked well on leashes and took treats sweetly from my hand. Donald sits for treats and is a bit more active than Daisy. Daisy really loves attention and just wanted to be close to me the whole time while Donald was more interested in wandering around the pen, investigating everything. They are both ideal dogs who still have many years to enjoy with you despite their age. Don’t let that deter you from coming to visit them!

Kit has a very sad story along with a whole caboodle of kids! Kit was found tethered outside with her babies (4 black and white puppies, 3 blue and white puppies, 2 dilute blue and white puppies)  after a bad storm. The babies had no shelter from the weather or a way to get out of the mud. These tiny pups are just a few days old.  Their eyes haven’t even opened yet! Kit was trying to be a good momma and defender her babies from anything that might harm them. Kit has not been available until now because she has been very nervous with people coming around her babies. Now that she has gained the staff’s trust, she is a perfect lady. Kit will come out and play with the staff for a short time and then she will go back to check on her babies. Kit is not much more than a baby herself. The staff judges that she may be just a little under a year. Kit is very good and lets the staff check on her kids.  Kit is still a little weary of men but she is still learning how to trust again. But can you blame this girl for being nervous (a new momma and stuck in a loud and scary place)?? Kit’s situation is dire. She and her caboodle of babies need a place to stay until her puppies can find homes of their own. Because of this, Kit and her puppies are available to a rescue only. Jack is a beautiful boxer here at the pound! He is pretty good on the leash and seems to be housebroken, seeing that he pottied right away when he got outside. Ned is such a fun little pup. This sweetheart is very well mannered. Ned waited patiently for his turn to go out for a walk. When it was his turn, Ned walked very nicely on the leash. He also stopped to say hello to all the visitors that were at Animal Control. I cannot say enough good things about sweet Oreo! She is an absolutely amazing dog here at the pound right now! She’s is in a corner run and I don’t think I heard one bark out of her the whole time I was at Animal Control today, despite all the dogs walking by her run. She waited patiently for  me to take her out of her run and walked great on the leash. Oreo knows how to sit when templed with a treat and seems very smart. She also enjoyed carrying around some of the toys laying around in the pen. On top of all that, she has the cutest black patch around her eye. Come meet this girl very soon!

Tonto is a cute little puppy that just wiggles with excitement. This little boy has cute little stubby legs and a scruffy face. Tonto has so much fun playing with the volunteers and his kennel mates. Tonto was found wandering by himself and picked up by a good Samaritan. Tonto is looking for a family that is ready to commit to a puppy. Puppies need lots of love and work. Truman broke my heart today. He’s been here before and obviously hasn’t been properly cared for. He has nasty ear infections and when an animal control officer was cleaning his ears, Truman started drooling and falling asleep. He is very sweet and though he pulls rather hard on the leash, he really deserves somewhere great to call his home. After getting his ears cleaned, he picked up the bag of cotton swabs and carried them around before trading it out for a rawhide. He loves interacting with other dogs and is gentle by nature. Teal is such a stunning dog. My pictures do not do her justice. Teal has beautiful brindle markings and huge ears bunny like ears that make her look just irresistible! Teal is very unsure of everything that is going on at Animal Control. She prefers to stay close to the volunteers when she gets her turn to go out on a walk. I am worried that Teal’s sweet sweet personality will be overlooked because she is so quiet and patient. Teal doesn’t make a lot of noise. In fact, I didn’t hear her bark at all. Teal prefers to silently observe everything that goes on. She is not pushy about getting out for walks or attention. This sweet little girl is bound to really shine given the opportunity. Sophie looks almost identical to her brother, Murphy (#31041). Sophie is an adorable little puppy. She has big long ears that look long enough to trip over! Sophie is a very reserved puppy that would probably do well with some obedience training to boost her self confidence. Sophie stayed close to me the whole time that I had her out. She was quite content to just sit in my lap and have her ears rubbed. Sophie is an owner surrender so she is looking for a family to come and scoop her up ASAP! Lily is such a cute and sweet little puppy. This beautiful little girl was surrendered with her siblings, Murphy (31041) and Sophie (31042).  Lily is a good little puppy that loves to explore and play but also loves to come and cuddle. Lily is the smallest out of the group of puppies but has the most personality. Lily enjoyed running circles around her siblings and greeting some of the other dogs while they were out on their walk. Lily is ready for her new adventure, with her new family.  This sweet little girl is waiting just for you!

Flea preventative for all sized dogs (Frontline Plus, Advantage, Revolution).

ACCAC has had lots of lactating mommas, litters of puppies, and malnourished babies in recent weeks so they’re nearly out of canned puppy food.  Additionally, many dogs that arrive at ACCAC have fleas and/or ticks, which is why Capstar and flea preventative is needed. Revolution is best because it kills internal worms and is great for dogs with mange too.
