This site is updated several times a week, but isn't up-to-the-minute accurate. For the most current info on a dog or cat, call Athens Animal Control and refer to the animal by ledger number, not name.
Timeliness is essential in adoption or rescue. Don't delay.
The shelter is often full, so owner-surrendered animals and those who have been there the longest are always in danger of euthanization.

Spay/Neuter Clinic
Atlanta Humane Society Spay/Neuter Clinic

Atlanta Humane Society Mobile Spay/Neuter SUV

The Atlanta Human Society’s HEART surgical utility vehicle will be back to do low-cost spay/neuter surgeries on March 18 and 19. They will be at the cat shelter on Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19. They are at the dog shelter on Thursday, March 19.

If you would like to have your pets altered but are on (or eligible for) public assistance and cannot afford it, Athenspets may be able to pay for it. To arrange this, make an appointment as explained in the Humane Society link below, then message us through Athenspets’ Facebook page (Athenspets – GA) or email spayneuter@athenspets.net. We will need some proof of inability to pay (for example, something showing you are eligible for public assistance) but assuming you have that, we will do our best to raise the funds for the surgery and will confirm with you in advance of the appointment date that the surgery is at *no cost to you*.

Visit the Atlanta Humane Society website at http://atlantahumane.org/services/mobile-spay/ for cost and eligibility details.
