This site is updated several times a week, but isn't up-to-the-minute accurate. For the most current info on a dog or cat, call Athens Animal Control and refer to the animal by ledger number, not name.
Timeliness is essential in adoption or rescue. Don't delay.
The shelter is often full, so owner-surrendered animals and those who have been there the longest are always in danger of euthanization.

Cara is Lost – Please Help

HELP! Cara was rescued from Animal Control a few weeks ago by Circle of Friends. She was just adopted and slipped out of her collar while on a walk. She is 50lbs, a dark brown/brindle color and is wearing a pink collar and last seen on 5/23 at the exit from Oak Hill Apt Complex onto Old Hull Rd, between North Ave & 4th St. Cara is shy of new people so she will run if you try to approach her – instead, PLEASE call Animal Control ASAP at 706 613-3540 or Michelle at 714-293-9030 if you think you see her. There is a $200 reward for information leading to her safe return.
